Flat tummy

HOW TO GET FLAT TUMMY...

If you're feeling a little flabby around the middle, or just want to do a little toning up, let these tips be your guide.

1. Change eating habit:

Don't eat anything for two to three hours before sleep.

2. Cut Down Sugar:

Try to cut as much sugar from your diet as possible. Besides being full of empty calories, having less sugar in your system will help to lower your insulin levels.

3. Do regular exercise:

A. Workout: Three days a week, you'll do the exercises. Before you begin each morning, warm up by marching or jogging in place for a minute to raise your heart rate and to loosen up your muscles.

 B. Power Plank:

Lie face down on the floor with your legs extended, your body propped up by your forearms. Slowly lift your torso and legs so that only your forearms and the balls of your feet touch the floor (see photo). To prevent your tummy from sagging down, contract the stomach muscles. Hold for 10 seconds (it's okay if you can't hold for that long). Gradually work your way up to a minute.

C. Crunches:

Abdominal exercises such as traditional crunches can help you flatten your stomach by tightening your muscles. However, they won’t help you “spot burn” any fat that’s covering up the muscles, and they won’t get you the best results on their own. Combine a series of exercises to boost the effectiveness of your routine. Also, the American Council on Exercise reports traditional crunches activate less muscle activity than many other forms of abdominal exercises.

Here are more tips from Dawn Jackson Blatner, RD, author of The Flexitarian Diet :
