Most women will suffer from
vaginal itching at some point in their lives. But as every woman who has had
this knows, even the most acute cases can be enough to drive you crazy from
having the constant urge to itch!
In the moment the constant
itching strikes, you need a natural solution that will just ease it immediately
until you have a chance to get to root cause of what caused it in the first
place. So no need to let vaginal itching ruin your day because trying one or
more of the following list should help you feel better in no time.
Home Remedies for Genital Itching or Vaginal Itching
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar has excellent
antibacterial and antifungal properties. It will help remove the itching
completely if it is a fungal or bacterial action that is causing the infection.
For enjoying the benefit of apple cider vinegar, take two tablespoons of apple
cider vinegar and mix it with warm water. Wash your vagina with this water
twice a day for two to three days. This should effectively take care of your
problem. Apple cider vinegar makes the vagina acidic where the bacteria cannot
thrive for long.
Salt Water Bath
Enjoying a salt-water bath can
also relieve vaginal itching. Salt will control the growth of the microbes
causing the infection and in turn reduce itching and other discomforts. Add 1
tablespoon of salt to a glass of water and use it to wash your vagina whenever
you feel the itch. This will give you instant relief. Alternatively, fill your
bathtub with warm water and add ½ cup of salt to it. Sit in the water in a
squatting position for 10 to 15 minutes. Repeat 2 or 3 times daily for a few
days for best results.
Neem Leaves
Neem is a good remedy if you
suffer from vaginal itching due to a yeast infection. Its antiseptic properties
help fight the infection and reduce itching and other discomforts. Boil a
handful of neem leaves in 2 to 3 cups of filtered water. Strain and allow it to
cool. Use this solution to rinse the vaginal area once daily for a few weeks. Alternatively,
add a few drops of neem oil to a bowl of lukewarm water and use it as a rinse
for your vagina. Repeat this remedy twice daily for a couple of weeks. You can
also drink neem tea a couple of times daily or take neem capsules after
consulting a doctor.

Honey
Unpasteurized honey is another
effective remedy to stop the itching. It has antibacterial and antifungal
properties that help get rid of any microbial infection that could be causing
the problem. Apply unpasteurized honey as an ointment on the affected area.
Leave it on for about 30 minutes, then take a bath in warm water. Repeat at
least twice a day until the symptoms improve. Also, eat 1 to 2 tablespoons of
unpasteurized honey with a glass of warm water twice daily.
Yogurt
The use of probiotics to
overwhelm the bad bacteria in the body is not a new remedy whatsoever. Pure
yoghurt has active cultures that can remove the bad bacteria by adding good
bacteria in abundance. For treating vaginal itch, drink a cup of pure
unsweetened curd every day. Yeast infections can be immediately taken care of
with yoghurt. Yoghurt made of goat’s or sheep’s milk is a better remedy for
treating vaginal itch. Another way to use yogurt is to apply in the vaginal
area directly which is a better way of dealing with vaginal itch. Direct
application of yoghurt will immediately stop vaginal itch. Constant application
will surely remove the problem forever. You can use a tampon for this purpose.
Soak a tampon with yoghurt and leave it in the vagina for a few hours. Frozen
yoghurt can also be inserted inside the vagina for instant relief.
Remove Tight Clothes
Take off your pants and lingerie
to air the vagina out. By not letting the vaginal area get enough oxygen and
‘breathe’ if you like, can cause negative bacteria to grow and will be enough
to cause an itch.
Avoid Sugar
If the cause of your chronic
itching, or reoccurring itching is due to a yeast infection (thrush), then
avoiding sugar in your diet will be a step in the right direction to helping to
reducing the levels of yeast present. As yeast, specifically Candida Albicans,
thrives on sugar. Some people have to avoid fruit sugar also and adhere to a
strict Anti-Candida diet for several months, but this is only in extreme cases.
