After Shaving and Waxing

Exfoliate your Skin

Exfoliate your skin with an exfoliating scrub before you have the waxing done. This will remove any dead skin cells, dirt and oil which may otherwise be forced into your pores with the application of wax. It also helps ensure a smooth result. If you don't have an exfoliating scrub, make one yourself by mixing enough sugar and water to form a paste and massaging it into your skin.

Ice Cubes

If bleeding is a surrounded problem after removing out the wax from the skin, then take an ice cube and rub it over the affected area to get the instant relief. Even if you are not bleeding, it is always good to apply ice on the skin to calm the inflammation and redness.

Aloe Vera Gel

Aloe vera gel is anti-fungal and anti-bacterial. It not only calms down the skin redness but also heals it from within further preventing any infection of the follicles! All you need to do is scoop out the fresh gel from aloe vera leaf and apply it onto the inflamed skin. Massage it gently for sometime and let it sit for 5 minutes. Wash off with cold water. Make sure you use fresh gel and not the commercially available gel.

Aspirin Mask

To help reduce redness and inflammation, you can apply an aspirin mask to the area with razor burn. Dissolve two aspirin pills in a few drops of water until you achieve a paste-like consistency. Apply this to the affected area for a few minutes and then rinse off completely.

No to do After Waxing

·       If skin is not red and inflamed the next day, gently exfoliate to prevent pimples and ingrown hairs from forming. DO NOT exfoliate within 24 hours after waxing.

·       Keep hands away from waxed area to prevent bacteria driven pimples.

·       Avoid any public water areas such as hot tubs, saunas, pools, and spas while the skin is healing to prevent infections.

·       Take showers instead of bathing for a few days.

·       Don’t exercise enough to cause heavy perspiring.

·       Avoid tight clothing if the bikini area was waxed.

·       Do not squeeze any pimples! To do so will cause more pimples. Instead apply a pimple medication.

·       Don’t get waxed just before menses when the skin is more vascular.
