An irregular period, medically known as oligomenorrhea, is a common problem among women. It usually refers to infrequent periods with intervals of more than 35 days.

A normal menstrual cycle ranges from 21 to 35 days. Menstrual bleeding generally lasts for two to seven days. Women normally have 11 to 13 periods in a year, but those with oligomenorrhea may have fewer than six or seven periods.



Irregular periods are characterized by variations in the time between each of your periods, the number of days that your periods last, and abnormal blood loss (whether less or more than usual) during a period.
Menstrual cycles tend to be irregular during the first few years after menstruation starts and also at the end of a woman’s menstrual years, when she is approaching menopause.

Bitter Gourd

Bitter gourd, though bitter, can be very effective in the treatment of irregular periods. You can consume bitter gourd juice, or decoction, as you please. The bitter gourd juice should be taken twice a day and the decoction can be taken once or twice daily, for some weeks, to get rid of irregular periods.



Cumin And Sesame Seeds Along With Honey

This is also an extremely effective treatment for oligomenorrhea. You should take powdered cumin seeds and sesame seeds in equal quantities, add honey to it, and then consume one tablespoon of this mixture daily. You can even consume one small spoon of the sesame powder twice, daily, to get relief from irregular menses.


Ginger

Ginger is highly beneficial in regulating menstrual cycles and also relieving menstrual pain. It promotes menstruation and hence is good when dealing with delayed or scanty periods. Boil one-half teaspoon of freshly ground ginger in a cup of water for five to seven minutes. Add a little sugar. Drink this three times a day after meals. Do this for about one month or more.



Grapes

Grapes are very useful ingredient in helping one have regular periods. Drinking grape-juice on a daily basis helps in regularizing your menstruation. Apart from that you can also add grapes to your normal diet to prevent sch irregular menstrual period issue in the future. However excess consumption of grapes may result in side-effects like lose motions too.


Parsley

Parsley is yet another useful herb in treating menstrual related issues. It is considered to be the most effective home cures for menstruation related issues. Parsley juice should be consumed every day, as a medicine, for getting regular intervals.



Aloe Vera

Using Aloe Vera for treating irregular periods is one of the best treatments. Aloe Vera regulates the hormones and helps in getting regular menstrual flow. Just pluck the aloe Vera leaf from your garden and extract the gel from it. Mix the gel with 1tbsp of honey. Consume this daily before having a breakfast. Continue this for at least three months for best results. Note: But don’t use this home remedy during your periods.
