Pesky, little white flakes – dandruff can be your worst nightmare! Dandruff is probably the world’s most common hair problem. This irritating scalp condition affects many people around the world. It has many causes, a few of which are such mundane factors that you would not believe that these could cause something like dandruff. The good news is that there are numerous solutions available to control and prevent this condition.

Natural Remedies For Dandruff

 Aloe Vera:

We just cannot get enough of this miracle plant. Aloe Vera repairs raw and broken skin on the scalp caused due to repeated itching. Aloe Vera gel also has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. It acts like a clarifying agent on our scalp and keeps dandruff out.
Apply fresh Aloe Vera gel obtained from the plant directly on your scalp. Leave it for about a quarter of an hour and wash it off using a mild shampoo. Do this daily till you get satisfactory results. Aloe Vera cleans up the scalp, and also soothes and heals the scalp which makes it the perfect dandruff home remedy.

Neem leaves:

Neem leaves (also an Indian herb) make a great all-natural home remedy for your dandruff. Their properties not only relieve itching, they act as an antifungal as well, inhibiting the over-growth of dandruff causing fungus. Be aware that some people find its smell to be overwhelming.

Add two handfuls of neem leaves to 4 or 5 cups of hot water. Let it stand overnight. The next morning strain the liquid and use it to rinse your hair. You can also try making a paste out of leaves, applying it to your scalp, and letting it sit for about an hour before washing it off with water.

Aspirin:

Aspirin can help with more than just headaches-it’s also an easy at-home remedy for dandruff. Pure Aspirin uses a large percentage of Salicylic Acid, which is an active ingredient in many commercial anti-dandruff shampoos. Salicylic Acid has fungicidal and anti-microbial properties to fight the extra flakes caused by fungus, while the Aspirin helps with the inflamed skin that often goes hand-in-hand with severe cases of dandruff.
Crush up the Aspirin until it becomes a fine powder. Add it to your regular shampoo before use, making sure to leave it in your hair for about 2 minutes before rinsing completely.

Yogurt:

Use yogurt to get rid of that dandruff. Just wash and rinse your hair, then rub plain yogurt into the scalp, and leave for 10-15 minutes and rinse off. Follow it up with a mild shampoo.  Yogurt prevents the aggravation of scaling on the scalp.

Coconut Oil:

Coconut oil helps eliminate dandruff due to its anti-fungal properties. It also moisturizes dry scalp and provides relief from itching.
Take some coconut oil and mix half the amount of lemon juice in it. Rub it on your scalp and massage for a few minutes. Wash your hair after at least 20 minutes. Follow this remedy two to three times a week.

Baking Soda:

Baking soda can help reduce the overactive fungi that causes dandruff. With repeated use, it also helps restore production of natural oils that keep your scalp from becoming dry and flaky.
Wet your hair and rub some baking soda onto your scalp. After some time, rinse your hair well with water. Do not shampoo your hair for a while after this treatment. Alternatively, you can add some baking soda to your shampoo when you wash your hair.

Olive Oil:

Scalp dryness can be cured with regular use of extra virgin olive oil, an effective natural moisturizer.
Simply heat some extra virgin olive oil until it is slightly warm. Massage it onto your scalp and then wrap your hair in a towel for half an hour. Brush your hair thoroughly to remove the dry flakes and then wash your hair.
