Summer Makeup Tips...

Summer is all about embracing the natural essence of your beauty, especially if you have a nice golden tan. You won't need much. I know, it's so annoying when your makeup starts melting during the Summer months. The heat means you're going to sweat, but it also means your skin will likely produce more oil.

There's some simple steps you can take before, during and after you apply your makeup to keep it all perfectly in place. From prepping your skin differently during the Summer to fight excess oil, being crafty with how you're applying, to keeping blotting papers on hand, your go-to guide for perfect makeup is right here.

1. Warm skin
Get a good bronzer with a nice silky texture that subtly warms your skin tone. Apply the bronzer to each side of the face, starting at the forehead and sweeping the brush down across the top of the cheekbone, then down and across the outer jaw line. The entire motion should form something of an "E" shape. Then lightly hit the top of the nose, chin and forehead where the sun would touch it.
2. Make time for primer. 
You will not regret the few seconds it will take to smooth on a primer, which goes on after moisturizer but before face makeup. Like house-paint primer, it provides a smooth base for whatever goes on next. Primers are definitely the way to go in summer. They're incredibly light — they don't feel at all like a heavy, additional layer — and they really help hold makeup in place.
3. Lighten up                                 
You can carry over your matte and semi-matte foundations. Anything too hydrating may cause too much shine during summer. But if you're willing to replace the heavier foundation used during the fall and winter, a happy medium for summer is a tinted moisturizer that still provides plenty of sheer coverage.
4. Bronze believably. 
Bronzer makes your eyes look brighter, your teeth whiter — everyone looks better with a little warmth added to their skin. To keep the results looking fresh and natural, he recommends applying bronzer just to the high points of your face, where the sun naturally hits you: forehead, cheekbones, chin, and nose. Powder bronzers are the easiest to apply. Another essential for keeping it real: a brush with long, loose, fluffy bristles — anything densely packed will deposit too much color. And be sure to sweep a little bronzer onto your neck and earlobes, especially if you have short hair or are wearing a pony­tail. A tan face that's framed by pale ears will out you fast.


4. Waterproof lashes
Waterproof mascara is a necessity for hot, humid weather to avoid the black smudges and streaks that form from sweat on the eyelid or under the eye.
5. Add a pop of color
"Wear a brighter cheek color to look healthy during summer.  As skin tones darken, blush colors should get brighter, not deeper. Pop a vibrant hue of powder or cream blush onto the apples of the cheeks to bring out a tan and add a healthy flush to the face.
6. Highlight eyes
Change your color palette and wear bronzy shadows instead of charcoal grays. Bronze shades are a natural fit for tan skin and hot days and generally complement the bright clothing colors that come out for summer.  Highlighting the inside corners of eyes with a shell-colored eye shadow to make them appear more luminous.

7. Add sheen                     
Lipstick can sometimes feel too heavy in warm weather, so try an equally vibrant gloss. Wear a sunny shade alone or pop it onto the center of lips over a bright lipstick to add depth and dimension. A simple swipe-and-go choice: tinted lip balms. They give you whisper-light color, and many even have SPF to protect you from the sun.
