How to get clear skin in 1 week

If you want clear skin cheaply in one week, then keep reading. These tips may not help everyone, so don't get discouraged if it doesn't help you. There are plenty of other solutions.

     1.           Keep it clean. Your makeup might hide zits, but it also traps free radicals against your skin, says Zoe Draelos, a professor of dermatology at Duke University. Wash your face morning, night, and after the gym with a cleanser that contains up to 2 percent salicylic acid. After washing your face, use a toner that will clean pores without stripping skin of your natural oils.

2.     Clean your makeup brushes. A British study found that 72% of women never wash their brushes or sponges, even though they harbor dirt and bacteria which can cause breakouts. You should wash loose powder brushes every two to three weeks, and those used to apply foundation once a week. Mix a couple of drops of gentle facial cleanser or shampoo and lukewarm water in a cup, swish your brushes around, rinse with lukewarm water, pat dry, and lay flat to air dry.

3.     Keep your hands off of your face. Break bad habits by keeping hands off of your face. The bacteria on your fingers is only making your skin problems worse.

4.     Run a wash cloth under hot water and immediately press it onto your face. The water and steam will really help clean the dirt from your pores. This also opens your pores, making it easier to clean them. Be careful that the water is not too hot when doing this.

5.     Homemade skin exfoliator.  Get 2 tablespoons of sugar and 2 tablespoons of water. Stir so it's like a thin paste, and add one more tablespoon of sugar. Stir again and drain out some of the water. Then get your hands wet and then rub them on your face so you have a little bit of water on your face. Then scoop up the sugar and water and put it on one of your cheeks. Scoop again and put it on the same cheek. Then rub the sugar in circular motions on your cheek for 60 seconds. Then rinse off and repeat for the other cheek and forehead. This is your exfoliater.

6.     Homemade skin toner. Get about ten drops of lemon juice on your hands after you wash your face. Smear on your face for ten seconds, but be careful. Lemon juice is strong and if it burns only keep it on for three seconds. It breaks down the dirt in your pores that the cleanser missed. This is your "toner".

7.     Don't Overwash Your Face. Frequent and vigorous washing can irritate your skin and make acne worse. So can grainy scrubs or soaps with harsh chemicals. Instead, wash acne-prone areas twice daily with a mild cleanser and warm water to minimize irritation.

8.     Don't Avoid Favorite Foods. It's a myth that oily foods or chocolate directly causes pimples. Acne occurs when pores are blocked by oils, skin cells, and normal bacteria, causing inflammation. But if certain foods seem to cause you to break out, try to avoid them. But you don't need to shun pizza or chocolate for clear skin.

9.     Do Keep Hair Off Your Face. Pull long hair back when you sleep so it doesn't aggravate your skin. Try to keep your hair away from your face during the day as well. Remember, hair contains oils that can block pores and cause breakouts, even if you don't use hair products.

10.  Drink plenty of water. Hydration is key to clear skin. Dehydration causes breakouts, because the skin overcompensates and produces more oil than necessary when it’s dry, which in turn causes you to break out. Drink more water!

11.  Wash your face twice a day. Make washing your face in the morning and nighttime a routine by setting a reminder for yourself for three weeks. Once you do it for three weeks straight, it will become habit, and it’ll be integrated into your daily routine.

12.  Clean your cell phones. Your cell phone contains more bacteria than a toilet seat, so putting it against your face when you’re talking on the phone can cause massive breakouts. Be sure to use anti-bacterial wipes to clean your phone, plus use speaker phone or your headphones as much as possible when calling your friends to avoid acne.

13.  Stay away from soap. Soap is highly alkaline, and it can damage the skin's natural barriers. Choose a soap-free cleanser instead.

14. Boost your fibre intake. Skin impurities are often due to digestive problems. Good health starts with good nutrition, so make sure to eat plenty of healthy foods for glowing skin such as fruits, raw vegetables and whole grains.

15. Give your skin a sip of merlot. Resveratrol, a powerful antioxidant and polyphenol found in red grape skins, has been found to prevent the lines, wrinkles, and sagging caused by environmental skin saboteurs like smog and second-hand smoke. Apply a small pump of B. Kamins C-Resveratrol Serum each night to plump up lines and smooth skin texture.

16. Strip off your makeup before bed. Leaving makeup and dirt on skin doesn't just clog pores; it can cause excessive dryness and even skin dandruff. Most makeup contains a sugar-type molecule that can grow yeast overnight. Don't forget to thoroughly remove eye makeup too.

17.  Snack on watermelon. Adding a lycopene-rich food, such as this juicy pink treat, helps reduce damage and redness caused from sun exposure, prevents future wrinkling and possibly even lowers skin cancer risk.  Aim for one cup each day by tossing it in salads, salsas, and smoothies. Or try the recipe for refreshing ice cubes: Purée watermelon, sweeten with concentrated apple juice, pour into an ice tray, and freeze. Then add cubes to water or club soda for a refreshing, skin-saving mockt.

18.   Pour yourself a bowl of Cheerios for breakfast. If your skin has a case of the blahs, a lack of zinc may be to blame. People who are trying to lose weight or eating a lot of processed foods might not be getting enough zinc to keep their skin glowing. And since zinc helps repair damaged tissues and heal wounds, it also helps clear acne and other irritating skin conditions. A cup of Cheerios has 25 percent of the daily recommended value of the powerhouse nutrient, which will get you well on your way to a clear complexion.
