Kidney Stones - Home Remedy

Kidney stones are a very common health problem. They form from the chemicals in urine, such as uric acid, phosphorous, calcium and oxalic acid. Other common causes of kidney stones are excessive consumption of vitamin D, a mineral imbalance, dehydration, gout and an improper diet.
Irrespective of the size of the kidney stones, they can cause severe pain. Other symptoms include a desire to urinate frequently, painful urination, nausea, vomiting and excessive sweating.

A majority of cases can be treated successfully with the help of natural ingredients. These natural treatments are safe, effective and do not have any side effects. Many of them also will help prevent stones from developing in the future.

Drink fluids

When you are passing a kidney stone, you need to drink enough water to keep your urine light yellow or clear like water, about 8 to 10 glasses of water a day. If you have kidney, heart, or liver disease and are on fluid restrictions, talk with your doctor before drinking more fluids.

Lemon diet

Occasionally squeeze a lemon into your water or consume foods made with lemon juice. Lemon is high in citric acid, which is thought to be effective at breaking up calcium-based kidney stones. As the stones break down, they become easier and less painful to pass. Try to consume 1/2 cup (125 ml) of pure lemon juice daily.

Bran flakes

Fiber helps get rid of calcium and oxalate in your urine, which cuts the risk of kidney stones. A bowl of bran flakes can give you 8 mg of fiber.

Whole-wheat bread

A couple slices of whole-wheat bread contain a good amount of magnesium, a mineral known for averting stones. One study found that people who got an adequate amount of magnesium stopped getting kidney stones altogether.

Salt and protein limit

Reduce your sodium intake to 3 g or less per day and consume meat protein in moderation. Salt increases calcium in the urine, which can complicate calcium-based kidney stones. Some studies suggest that sodium also increases urate, a substance that triggers kidney stone formation. Protein increases levels of uric acid, calcium, and oxalate in the urine while decreasing citrate. Meat protein is especially problematic since it has a higher content of sulfur, thereby producing more acid than vegetable protein.

Apple cider vinegar

To dissolve and pass a kidney stone with limited discomfort, mix 2 oz. of apple cider vinegar into a glass of water and drink this ACV Tonic over a short period of time. Repeat this treatment the next day if necessary, but one dose is often enough to help you pass kidney stones within a day.

Olive Oil and Lemon Juice

This is an extremely popular remedy for kidney stones! Mix together two ounces each of freshly squeezed lemon juice and olive oil. Drink this (not nearly as bad as you think) and follow it up with plenty of water. You can repeat this 2-3 times a day until the stones pass, which often happens within 1-3 days.
