Facial Hair Removal - Home Remedies

It is a desire of every woman to have natural radiant and glowing skin. To ensure a smoother skin, women have been battling with the unwanted hair growth for centuries. We all have a little hair on the face, there may be times when there is a sudden spurt of growth due to various reasons and this excessive hair growth is called hirsutism. The most common reason is generally a hormonal imbalance because it is the levels of oestrogen that determine hair growth. Unfortunately, hirsutism is a long-term problem and while you may opt for bleaching, waxing or shaving, they cannot provide a permanent cure.

Home Remedies for Facial Hair?
There are different methods available that can help in curbing this issue for good. Here are a few home remedies that can help you deal with this problem without resorting to the use of chemicals.

Gram flour or Besan
Traditionally, women in many Indian homes regularly used a face pack made by mixing gram flour or besan with turmeric. This was said to have the ability to remove the excess hair on the face, particularly around the mouth and chin. Besan also helps get smooth and flawless skin.
Mix equal amounts of besan and turmeric and add a little water to make a thick paste. Apply to the problematic part of the face, leave on until it dries totally and then dip a cloth in warm water and use to rub off this face mask – you will find that along with the besan mixture, the strands of hair are also removed. Or mix in a little curd or cream (malaai) to the besan-turmeric paste and apply for an equally effective hair removal remedy.

Lemon and Sugar
In order to use lemon and sugar for hair removal, you should mix 1 fresh lemon with 1 spoon of sugar. You should also use a little water so as to dissolve the sugar. Leave the mixture on your face for 15-20 minutes and then wash off with cold water. If you do this regularly, at least 3 times a week, you will begin to see a noticeable reduction in hair growth. It works kind of like an exfoliating agent with the lemon acting as an antiseptic and astringent.

Lemon juice and Gram flour
Another quick and easy method of removing unwanted facial hair is lemon juice and gram flour mixture. Squeeze 10ml of lemon juice into a cup of water and then add 30g of gram flour, mixing well. Once this mixture has been applied to your face, you should wait 15 minutes then gently scrub the affected area in the direction of hair growth to remove the unwanted facial hair.

Corn flour, Sugar and Egg
Mix half a teaspoon of corn flour, one teaspoon of sugar, and an egg. Blend the mixture well till it becomes a sticky paste. Apply this face pack. Once it dries, peel it off in the opposite direction of the hair growth.

Lentil Face pack
Soak lentil overnight; add lemon juice, honey, potato juice, and a pinch of turmeric. This is an effective face pack that not only helps in removal of unwanted facial hair but also bleaches the remaining hair.

Basil Onion paste
You need 9 to 12 fresh basil leaves and the thin transparent membrane found in the onions. Take membranes of two onions and make a paste by crushing these with basil leaves. Apply this paste on the areas with excess hair. Using this paste for a month will bring beneficial result and you might end up getting rid of your unwanted hair forever.

Papaya paste
A paste of raw papaya and ½ teaspoon of turmeric powder is very effective for removing unwanted hair permanently. Just massage your face with this paste for 15 minutes and rinse off. Use it once a week to get fruitful results.

Honey and Lemon
Combine 1 part fresh lemon juice and 4 parts honey and mix well. Then, soak a cotton ball or pad in the mixture and rub gently over the unwanted facial hair for about 10-15 minutes. After half an hour, rinse the face with warm water. In order to see a noticeable effect you should repeat this process at least twice a week.

Bleaching
Bleaching is an effective home remedy that helps to hide unwanted facial hair. It does not remove the hair, but merely lightens it so as to make it less visible. Bleaching is a good option for those with darker facial hair.

Waxing
Waxing is an effective way to get rid of unwanted hair. Take 2 cups of sugar and ¼ cup of water and ¼ cup of lemon juice. Heat over slow flame until it becomes thick brown liquid. Cool the mixture and apply this with a butter knife. With a clean cloth or waxing strap pull in the opposite direction of the hair growth. Ice or astringent should be used over the area to tighten the pores.
